Last week we looked at how audio is huge and only getting bigger with audiobooks and podcasts exploding, as I discovered at the London Book Fair.

Another big theme that emerged from the fair was the power of immersive storytelling and this extends across all kinds of markets and niches…and is enormously important to you as a marketer.

So what is immersive storytelling? Remember the Pokemon Go phenomenon? That was immersive storytelling, as is any use of the latest technology such as HD video and Virtual Reality to completely engage your audience as explained here:

Before you start shaking your head and backing away at the technology part of this, I want you to focus on the much more important part which is the storytelling.

Consumers now are bored of ads that sell, sell, sell and which therefore turn them off. They want stories and they want to feel completely involved in those stories. Which means that you, as a marketer, need to give them what they want as much as you can…

So let’s now look at ways you can do that without a budget.

Let’s start with Hubspot’s excellent tutorial in their Ultimate Guide to Storytelling to connect with your audience:

And if you imagine storytelling is confined to the written word (especially if you hate writing) think again as this equally excellent guide teaches you how to use images alongside text and video content to make your message completely compelling…and, yes, immersive:
