It has to be one the questions I get asked the most:

“What’s the fastest way to make money?”

Often that comes wrapped up in other things like:

“Heeeeeeeelp….this huge disaster/bill/other unexpected event hit like a tsunami and I’m drowing here….”

Or words to that effect.

And my answer is always the same:

Make or do something and sell it.

That’s it. Create a product or service that you know people want and get them to pay you for it. No mucking around with fiddly ‘systems’ that people will try and sell you as an ‘instant’ source of funds (hint: if you see the words ‘push-button’ that’s generally a clue that you should run in the opposite direction).

No spending hours learning something like Facebook Ads in the hope those will start spewing the green stuff for you (they might but it’s a steep learning curve and you have to spend that money…and quite a lot of it…before you can hope to see a return.)

Instead, think of something you know or can do already and monetize it. Simple. Or is it? Well, yes. There is always something you can monetize. Always. Whether it will earn you enough money to solve your pressing problem is the first question you need to ask yourself swiftly followed by an honest assessment of how long it will take.

For most people, providing some kind of service is the fastest way to bring in that much-needed moolah. And if you don’t know what ‘moolah’ is, it’s Brit speak for money. Cash. The crispy green stuff we all need to survive. What do I mean by service? Honestly, anything you can do for someone else that they will pay you to do, preferably gladly. That can mean online or offline.

I have a friend who is a freelance PA, for example. People can hire her to do all the tasks they simply don’t have time to do, including everything from sorting out their filing system, organizing their calendar and liaising with clients to more domestic things like picking up their dry cleaning and overseeing their home renovations. Whatever the task, she charges the same and makes more than she ever did working in a conventional Executive PA role here in London.

As you’re reading this on a site which focuses on online marketing and sales, I am assuming you would probably prefer to earn that way as well although don’t discount ideas like the one above. I run my working life as a successful hybrid of on and offline and you will often find that one feeds the other.

But providing services online is a great way to earn that fast cash if you are home-bound, living somewhere where other opportunities are thin on the ground or simply don’t want to interact with other people too much. I get that. So if you need some ideas of fast and well-paid services you can offer, here’s a selection which may suit you depending on your skillset:

Creating content for others – Hugely in demand because many people don’t have the time or simply don’t want to do it. This can include blog posts, emails, giveaway reports, ebooks, white papers, visual content, videos…anything and everything that other people need.

Web Design/Design – Another hugely in demand service if you have the appropriate skills. You can design everything from simple WordPress blogs to complex sites as well as all kinds of graphics including logos, covers, social media images and so on.

Acting as a Virtual Assistant – Good VAs are in short supply so if you are organized and ready to turn your digital and other skills into what is often (but not always) a customer service role then this is one for you.

Of all of these, creating content is the easiest because as long as you have access to a keyboard and an internet connection, you can get started. Many people start off on job boards and working for content mills and that can be a way to gain experience but I strongly advocate getting your own direct clients.

Those clients will be far more focused on quality and willing to pay for it. People who purchase content via content mills or job boards tend to be more focused on price and often (again, not always) paying as little as possible. The competition is also fierce.

Creating content for others is how I got started online and it has rewarded me handsomely. I still create content all the time, monetizing it in multiple ways. If you’d like to learn how to do this for yourself, my new course The Attractor Factor teaches you everything you need to know about getting started in the fastest, easiest way.
