I made the mistake of hitting the high street this morning after my nice, relaxing pre-Christmas yoga class. Never again. I took one look at the carnage in Marks & Spencer and went home to shop online, in true digital spirit.

I know that the next few days, however you spend them, may be a mix of more or less free time and responsibilities for you. I decided therefore that your takeaways this week would consist of a mix of stuff for you to learn, stuff for you to get and stuff to enable you to relax too, just a little.

And, of course, it’s all for nada!

So let’s begin with this look at how Instagram and LinkedIn have emerged as social media front-runners this year (as I teach in my new course, the Speed Profit System). I especially love this podcast because it gives you timestamps in the show notes so you can just fast forward to the bits you really want although, frankly, all of this is great:

With all of that in mind, I now want to point you to some further resources…first of all for LinkedIn and we’ll kick off with an excellent tutorial on how to set up the perfect LinkedIn profile:

Then follow that with this next tutorial on how to create the perfect LinkedIn headline:

Tools always help and you’ll find some good ones here – check first as not all are no cost:

I’ve talked a fair bit about Instagram in recent weeks but here is a good guide to what is working now and how to implement it for your own marketing:

In the Speed Profit System I focus on content creation and guess what…there are great tools to help you with that too (apart from the ones mentioned in the course):

OK, I promised you relaxation as well as I firmly believe it is so important to recharge when you can in order to perform at your best.

We discussed some of these relaxation apps at my class this morning and I am a big fan of both Calm and Headspace (although some people find the guy’s voice slightly annoying…your choice!)

If you are a fan of mindfulness then you’ll find some excellent audio resources here:

It’s really important to remember to take care of yourself at a time when you may be rushing around doing things for other people.

I shared this interactive self-care guide with social media friends this week and it’s wonderfully nurturing for any time of year, reminding you to stop and take time for your own needs.

I promise it will make you feel better no matter how bad you might feel:

Following on that theme, your TED talk this week is a hugely popular one by Daniel Levitin on how to stay calm when you know you’ll be stressed:
