I had the most glorious morning, eating a still warm from the oven almond croissant from my favourite deli before wandering along to the local car boot sale.
There;’ I got chatting to a lady at one of the stalls as I browsed her stuff. She told me how everything was being sold to help pay for a school in Tanzania affiliated to the church who were running the stall.
As she told me more, I admired the sunhat she was wearing, complete with tag. That was, of course, for sale too and exactly what I was looking for…
The result?
One happy customer who bought without ever feeling sold to and I’m now also donating stuff we no longer need to they can sell that too.
The moral of this story?
Tell stories. Tell your story, the story of what you sell…give people a reason to buy from you rather than anyone else.
That’s exactly what that lady did today and it worked because we connected as humans. Plus the hat is gorgeous…so a win-win all round.
