Last week we talked traffic.
This week we’re talking one of the best places you can send it…
And that’s to your own membership site.
Why is that such a good idea?
Because a membership site is based on all the principles that work so well for a modern marketer – they’re all about engagement, building a loyal tribe and delivering great value in a niche you care about.
Yes, I am one of those people who thinks you should care about the niches you go into simply because otherwise it gets too much like hard work. If you really, really don’t care about gardening or goldfish or even great email marketing then it’s going to be hard to keep churning out good material on the subject.
Don’t get me wrong – membership sites can be very low maintenance once you have set them up. You can simply drip feed material you have already created or, at the other end of the scale, be highly interactive with your members. It’s up to you.
And that’s the beauty of it along with the joys of recurring income and that loyal band of followers you build up.
So let’s begin with this excellent tutorial on building a 6 figure membership site step by step:

There’s also this handy guide for those of you who love speed and may already have an audience – how to build a membership site in a day:

And if those two weren’t enough, here is another superb guide:

Talking of plugins, there are all kinds of tech solutions to help you set up your site and there are some great no cost options here along with paid solutions:

Once you’ve built that site you’ll need to launch it and here are some strategies to help you do exactly that:

Then of course you will need to promote it as well to keep those members signing up:

There might come a day when you are bored with your membership site or no longer want to run it and that’s when you need to know that you can also sell it for a tidy sum by following the advice here:

Do read the chapters before that one as they also give great insights into the entire membership site model and how you can benefit enormously from it.
Trust is something on which great membership sites are built. It’s the foundation on which any successful business these days is built. Which is why your TED talk this week focuses on how to build that vital trust:
