Yesterday I wrote a blog post about how vital vulnerability – or the courage to be yourself – is so vital to your success.

If you haven’t read that yet, you can do so here:

Following on from that, I want to share with you some ways to ‘be yourself’ more in front of your audience without compromising yourself or turning them off (it can happen!)

Let’s start with some new as well as tried and tested ways on social media to connect in a more authentic way.

I freely admit to still trying to get the hang of Instagram Stories – a great way to connect – so I was delighted to come across this podcast on how to make the most of them. The relevant bit starts at 05:37 if you want to fast forward:

Facebook Stories are another option although there are more limitations than Instagram – find out how to use them in your marketing here:

If you want some general tips on being authentic on social media then there are some good ones here that you can apply even if you don’t think you have a ‘brand’ (trust me, you do – it’s you):

You might be wondering how you can be authentic, vulnerable, open etc if you’re selling physical products or are running an ecommerce store, an Esty shop or similar…

The answer to that is here along with some great tips for everyone:

I also love the 6 tips here about being yourself and how that translates into customer attraction so you don’t need to chase as they come to you:

One of the most powerful ways to connect with your audience, as we have seen, is through story, specifically your own story. That’s the basis for authentic connection.

I’m busy creating a course on this right now because I believe it is such a vital part of marketing today, if not the most vital part.

In the meantime, you might like to take a look at this for some great storytelling tips:

I feature Brené Brown’s talk on vulnerability in my blog post and I think this one she subsequently gave on shame will also resonate with you:
