I’ve been thinking a lot about what to write for you this week. As you may know if you saw my email, a very old friend of mine suddenly and unexpectedly died and I have been trying to support his wife and daughters, one of whom is my goddaughter.

In these strange times, that is particularly hard as we are all so necessarily separate and they live hundreds of miles away.

Of course, we all are right now so I thought, therefore, that it would be helpful to focus on resources that help you put in place good habits and systems to enable you to be your best and most productive self through the weeks and months ahead.

The bedrock for these is always the right mindset or attitude – call it what you will – so I would like to start there.

And if you feel yourself shrugging and scrolling down at this point, don’t. Mindset is the single most vital thing you need to get right, not only if you are to master this IM thing but for any project, enterprise or even just to get through what is going to be a long winter for all of us.

I really like the tips given here by a successful online entrepreneur:

There is also an unbelievable collection of great resources here including courses, podcasts and more on developing that essential bulletproof entrepreneurial mindset:

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you’ll know that James Clear is one of my favourite writer experts on habits, productivity and so on.

Here are four of his best:

First up, the ultimate productivity hack:

Then the ultimate habit tracker:

A scientific guide to getting and staying insanely motivated:

And finally the surprising benefits of journaling one sentence every day (this really does work):

Someone else I follow for tips on habits, success and life is Michael Hyatt. He has a wonderful podcast and publishes excellent pieces such as this one on the 3 steps to really thinking big:

And this on making progress on goals in only 5 minutes:

An especially good podcast episode of his is this on how to reevaluate your goals and make them exciting again:

I also love this on implementing a daily gratitude habit:

Finally, someone I have devoured in article form for years is Leo Babauta’s Zen Habits – his astonishing stuff is all gathered for you in one place here:

Your TED talk this week is on the gift and power of emotional courage:
