I love those Day in the Life type posts and articles, especially when it’s (apparently) the day in the life of a marketer or someone working from home.
To show you that it’s not all floating around in my pool (way too cold here in London) and polishing my Lambo (nowhere to park), I thought I would share my last 24 hours with you as you can get some excellent tips along the way.
To kick off those 24 hours I woke up yesterday to the dreaded Blue Screen of Death. This is when you stare at your laptop or PC in disbelief as it fails to load or behave while a blue screen displays an incomprehensible message.
Luckily, I have been here before so keep several online and offline backups. I pay for some of these but there are plenty of no cost options that you can use as backup solutions including:
Dropbox basic allows you 2GB of space with options to upgrade but there are also lots of trial offers on their other plans and currently I have 1TB free thanks to a trial on their pro plan.
Check out their options here:

In addition to that, there’s a useful collection of other no cost cloud storage options here:

Of course, if you get a crash or BSOD then you need to try and resurrect your computer. I run Windows 10 so simply ran a restore and reinstalled everything with the aid of my backups.
In addition to storage, you might like to explore the no cost backup options out there (the difference being these can be easier to reinstall). There’s a selection of those here:

Once I had everything reinstalled, I ran virus and malware scans to make sure that hadn’t caused the crash.
My favourite malware tool is Malwarebytes which has an excellent basic option at no cost:

While if you want an antivirus, take a look at this selection:

System restored and everything back in place, I took the puppy for a head-clearing walk before returning to finalise my new Total Turnaround course which I am releasing tomorrow.
This is different to any other course I’ve created because it feels like you are sitting down with me or, at the very least, are in the room while I deliver a workshop so I want it to feel especially immediate and ‘live,’ as if you had me there.
That means I have created it mainly as a series of workbooks and accompanying audios alongside the main course book and I used Audacity for the recordings.
If you don’t know Audacity, it’s an excellent free recording software that produces crystal clear audios and you can get it here:
You will also need the LAME plugin if you want to export your recordings as MP3s and you can get that here:
So there you have it…no Lambos and no pool but a highly productive 24 hours from which you can gain something as well. My computer runs better than ever, I am hugely proud of Total Turnaround and the puppy is sleeping peacefully…
I wouldn’t swap any of that for a supposedly glitzy lifestyle!
Your TED talk this week fits perfectly with all of that as it measures what makes life worthwhile:
