It’s a long weekend here in the UK as we have May Bank Holiday.
Now, I don’t know about where you are but that’s a cue for every DIY store and garden centre in the nation to unleash a swarm of discounts and ads.
Being the hardened marketer that I am (!), I have resisted all of them and merely pruned a few roses with my trusty old secateurs.
Yep, we really do live like it’s Downton Abbey over here 😉
Seriously, those ads represent a good education in how to grab a market’s attention with perfectly timed deals on physical goods.
I know that the idea of selling physical goods has lit a fire under many of you so I thought I would expand on the Amazon model by finding some training on other methods.
This is a great podcast from a site that is brimming with excellent resources:
If you liked that one you might want to check out the one on finding products for Amazon – something I know holds many of you back:
Another great podcast is Tropical MBA and I want to draw your attention to this blog post the guys behind it wrote on How to Make Money from Anywhere.
These two really have made millions from a combination of businesses they run from somewhere near a beach…Good, practical stuff as opposed to the usual waffle:

Equally enlightening is their post on how to genuinely make ten thousand dollars in a day:

As an alternative to TED, here’s a thought-provoking talk from Gary Vaynerchuk on 99u (another excellent series of talks).
Gary is always on top of the ever-changing world that is marketing and especially on the internet. Here he is explaining why the way we told stories to sell just a few years back no longer works.
Be aware there is some fairly salty language so cover your ears if that offends you:
