Something Special for the Season

In the midst of all the hustle and bustle at this time of year, here is your special Seasonal Weekend Takeaways to bring a few moments of insight, ah ha moments and hopefully joy!

You can digest these with your coffee/egg nog/alka seltzer and use them as an excuse to sneak away for a few moments of calm in front of your screen while the rest of the world slumps in front of The Muppet Christmas Carol. Again.

First up are 20 tips on how to become successful on LinkedIn – I promised you social media tips and, along with Google+, I think this is the one to watch and stamp your presence on in 2014:

Hubspot have produced an excellent free webinar with Guy Kawasaki on building a social media following and you can access that here (you need to register but I’ve never had a problem with Hubspot’s occasional, informative emails):

If you liked that, then try the follow up webinar where Guy shows you what he did (and does) to acquire 10 million followers:

Lastly from Hubspot, a great free ebook on how to turn Facebook fans into paying customers:

If you haven’t tried Twazzup yet, you’re missing out – this free tool is ultra simple to use. All you need to do is enter the name you want to track and you instantly get real-time updates, giving you the most active influencers, top re-tweeted photos and links, and most importantly, the top 10 keywords related to your search.

Try it here:

People love graphical quotes on Facebook but, with recent changes in Edge Rank, it’s a good idea to create your own rather than simply pass on some funny cat pic.

Studiopress have produced a lovely customisable image that you can use to do just that:

Need social media icons? These are lovely and come with a commercial/personal use license:

As this is the season of giving, I’ve put together a special page of gifts from me to you with love – go here to get them:

Finally, our TED talk this week is a truly wonderful ode entitled ‘If I Controlled The Internet’…enjoy!

A quick post to say thank you for your weekly emails. Over the year you have introduced me to so many useful ideas, videos and so on. Yours is the one marketer email which I really look forward to receiving.
You put such a lot of thought and work into each message (which is time consuming and can’t be easy) that I just wanted you to know that it is really appreciated.

Thank you so much Eddie – I am really thrilled to hear that you look forward to the emails and that they are helping you and your business. It’s so lovely to hear from my subscribers and especially with messages of appreciation like this.

I challenge myself each time to make every newsletter better so all I can say is look forward to even more in the coming year!
