Yesterday I ended up in the emergency room with what I
thought was a dental problem thanks to the pain shooting
through my face and turned out to be inflamed sinuses
pressing on the nerves.

Not fun…and, more than that, a salutary lesson in taking
better care of myself.

Like many of you, I’d just kept going through a bad cold
because:

I have a business to run…
A home to run…
A child to run…
And my health to run into the ground!

So I decided enough was enough. I stopped, went to bed and
rested. OK, I got up to feed kittens, kid etc but apart
from that I looked after myself.

And I could do that because I had enough coming in so that
I didn’t have to worry – all of that passive income in
one form or another.

I’m always encouraging you to create similar streams of
income simply because the day will come when you, too,
need to take time out: to recharge, recover or simply to
rest.

To help you do that, I’ve put together some inspiring
links to real life case studies of people who have created
their own streams of passive income along with some links
to yet more tools that will help you do that.

Let’s kick off with a good general overview from the
ever reliable About on creating passive income:

http://entrepreneurs.about.com/od/gettingstarted/a/passiveincome.htm

Next up is a real life story of one woman’s successful
strategy to replace her former salary with passive income:

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/first-person-m-creating-multiple-streams-passive-income-200000357–finance.html

Then there is this on how an unusual approach to creating
passive income can reap rich rewards:

http://www.smartpassiveincome.com/6-figures-unexpected-niche/#more-8879

And from one of my fave writers online, an excellent
passive income walkthrough with useful links to his
previous and subsequent posts that, together, make this a
comprehensive primer:

Now to the tools and the following is a nice collection of
links, most of them free, to many epublishing tools I use
and recommend. Why epublishing? Because time and again you
will see this advocated as a prime source of passive
income…not least by me!

Then here are two free shareware video editing tools (and
very good ones at that) provided by Tom’s Guide:

This week’s Kindle freebie is something I should have
read before I ended up in that emergency room:

Lastly, the free version of Photoshop I mentioned a while
back and which is still available here – not the newest
but it works:

http://www.techspot.com/downloads/3689-adobe-photoshop-cs2.html

To download this correctly, beneath the blue Download Now
button on the right hand of this page you’ll see the
option to choose Photoshop for Windows or Mac.

Once you’ve selected the right one for you, you’ll be
taken to the appropriate page and your download will start
automatically. Watch out for those big green
‘Download’ buttons – there is no need to click on
those at all!

Finally, Richard St John’s TED talk in which he reveals
the 8 Secrets of Success just to keep you moving towards
your goals…
